This October, we are joining communities across Aotearoa, in recognising World Homeless Day (10th of October).
A day to reflect on and acknowledge those in your community who are doing it tough. A day to remind us that homelessness affects many, and that by raising awareness, offering help, or by simply connecting, you can make a real difference in the lives of our most vulnerable whanau.
A gift as simple as a clean load of laundry, a hot shower, and a heartfelt conversation can restore dignity and mana to those struggling. In moments of hardship, these acts of care can make a profound difference, offering not just relief, but the comfort of knowing they are seen and valued.

Why support Orange Sky?
In the last 20 years, the rate of homelessness has outstripped population growth, with New Zealand and Australia showing the highest rates of homelessness in OECD countries (OECD Affordable Housing Database 2020). Homelessness is a complex issue that extends beyond people sleeping rough, who make up only 8% of the homeless community.
Most of us don’t know what it’s like to spend a night on the street, but nearly all of us could relate to being cash-strapped at one point or another. An unexpected bill, a medical emergency or maybe the breakdown of a relationship – it doesn’t take long to be in a situation where money is tight.
Orange Sky is a registered charity that provides free laundry, hot showers and non-judgmental korero and connection to those experiencing homelessness and hardship. We believe in raising dignity and mana across Aotearoa - ensuring no one in your community is left behind.
